My name is Hasmik.
I work with color and form to evoke joy, happiness and connection, inviting the viewer into an energetic exchange with my paintings and sculptural works on canvas. Using [acrylics/oils], and papier-mâché to render a vibrant interplay of structure and fluidity, my works reflect the varied, textured, multidimensional experience of life that we share.

An artist and educator for nearly 30 years, Avetisian Cochran discovered her natural passion for art and painting in her first year as a teaching assistant, where lessons were taught through an art-focused lens. Inspired by her students’ art, a stay with Australian Aboriginal artists, and a lifelong love of learning, her work evolves through her life experience, with themes that resonate across diverse communities.
